Articulate Rise Course
"How to Comply with ICFR Requirements"
Challenge
This course was designed for members of the accounting department within a healthcare company. The SME that I collaborated with had previously surveyed the learners to identify general knowledge gaps, so it was my job to figure out how to present the information in a meaningful and interactive format.
The course provided information to members of the accounting department, who would be on the frontlines of implementing processes necessary to meet upcoming compliance standards.
Solution
This self-paced learning solution offers the company an asynchronous and more interactive method of engaging learners. I chose Articulate Rise because of the simplicity and interoperability the platform provides for both designers and learners.
I created an outline for the course and used content and some graphics from slide decks provided by the SME. Realizing that the course was becoming an information dump, I narrowed the scope of the course significantly in an effort to create a more "bite-sized" and interactive learning experience. I also used Canva to create graphics to enhance the visual design and experience of the course.
Results
The course overall, but especially the scenario at the end, has received positive feedback from both the SME and a manager within the company.
The development of this course has taught me the importance of collaboration with SMEs. The content is highly technical. In order for me to develop a learning solution, I needed to study the content and have a close relationship with the SME so that I could comfortably ask questions and offer solutions that deviated from the SME's initial idea.
The SME that I collaborated with has provided access to a published version of the course for learners to reference as needed.
