Challenge

Employees completed a training on the company's process for properly documenting internal controls. However, they had no template to follow when documenting controls on their own.

Solution

This quick reference guide provides employees with an exemplar they can follow to ensure they are properly documenting the internal controls. Each of the 5 key attributes is listed with annotations within the text marking the key attribute. 

I created this job aid using Canva. It went through multiple iterations with the SME as we both found clarity on the purpose of the job aid and what we wanted it to communicate.

Results

Considering the complex subject matter of this job aid, I learned the importance of close collaboration with the SME. Internal controls is a topic that I had no familiarity with prior to developing this job aid, however, I enjoyed learning about the topic and am confident the job aid will support learners just in time as they perform their work.
